This October, FoGP is Returning to the Bird Sanctuary

October 11 @ 8:30 am - 11:00 am

On Oct. 11, FoGP volunteers will clear debris from these historic streambeds and tackle more invasives at the Bird Sanctuary in preparation of the coming winter rains. And a quick explanation of why we try to get ahead of invasives is simple: they tend to crowd out natives. We’ve seen first-hand what happens when invasives are removed – natives thrive!

If you look along the hillsides, pockets of caterpillar phacelia are clearly evident up the slopes – an indicator that our efforts have been helpful in returning natives to an area devastated by the 2007 fire. We hope everyone will continue to support our efforts. Don’t forget to bring a friend!

Please dress comfortably… old clothes, comfy shoes, plus a hat and sunscreen. If you have gloves, bring them, although we do have gloves on hand.
We’ll provide tools and water (if you bring a bottle, you can always refill).

Get ready, get set, join the fun and continue to celebrate the uniqueness of Griffith Park!
