Scholarships Available for the Next Generation of Environmental Stewards

CATEGORY: In the News |
On Dec 9, 2021

For the second year, Friends of Griffith Park will offer scholarships to local students going on to higher educational prospects in environmental studies.

In 2021, the scholarships were awarded to two students of color attending the North Hollywood High School Zoo Magnet Center, better known as the Zoo Magnet School. This year, FoGP will offer scholarships to three deserving students.

The impetus for this program arose from a desire to address the racial inequality that exists within our community : and strive to make the wonders of Griffith Park equally accessible to all Angelenos. Our scholarship program seeks to broaden and extend that spirit of generosity to a larger community, as well as supporting students of color with financial assistance for higher education expenses.

We wish all students the best in pursuing their dreams and future goals. For students interested in applying for the 2022 FoGP scholarship, the attached application must be filled out completely. Please keep in mind, this application must be received no later than Friday, March 4, 2022. Applications received after this date will not be considered. Applicants will be notified of the final decision in April 2022.
