Protecting mountain lions in SoCAL

CATEGORY: Current Events |
On Apr 9, 2020

The California Fish and Game Commission is currently debating whether to list SoCAL mountain lion populations in the California Endangered Species Act (CESA). Even as we speak, local Santa Monica Mountain sub-populations are on the brink of extinction, and without better protections to reduce habitat fragmentation, freeway deaths, rodenticide poisoning, and loose depredation regulations, they may cease to exist.

Recently Friends of Griffith Park sent a formal letter advocating for greater protections to the Commission. We’re asking you to sign the petition developed by our allies at the Center for Biological Diversity to help support protection of mountain lions. Please click here to sign and it’s important to do so soon as the commission will meet on April 16.
