Jorge Ochoa at the Los Feliz Branch Library

CATEGORY: Current Events |
On Jul 9, 2019

Speaker Jorge Ochoa is back to discuss the latest science on how fires regularly affect this vast wilderness. The 2018 brush fire of 63 acres in Griffith Park’s Condor Canyon give us yet another living laboratory to study devastation and recovery.

If you’ve heard any of his previous talks, or have taken a stroll with Jorge in Griffith Park, the first thing that comes to mind is his passion combined with his willingness to share his extensive knowledge about flora found in Griffith Park. Flora from the Latin means goddess of the flower and refers to plant life occurring in a particular region or time: generally the naturally occurring or indigenous: native plant life. Bottom line, you’re in for a real treat if you come to this lecture.

We urge you to RSVP for this event as Jorge is a must see. https://friendsofgriffithpark.org/calendar/

Currently Jorge Ochoa works in the Department of Horticulture at Long Beach City College. In his spare time, Jorge does research in horticulture as well as the Plant genus Passiflora. Occasionally you might stumble across him as he meanders through the wild areas of Griffith Park, looking for the unexpected surprises that can only be found in this urban wilderness Parkland.
