Address Griffith Park – Recording of Mike Ebert’s Lecture

On Thursday, Sept. 17th, Griffith Park’s renowned historian Mike Eberts gave a fascinating lecture on the Rodger Young Village and how this concept has created the basis for the current bridge housing project next to the Mulholland Fountain. But what folks didn’t know: how often the area near the 5/134 freeways has been utilized for various housing projects over many years.

For over a century, Griffith Park served as a temporary solution to housing prisoners, unemployed young adults, WWII internees, and returning military veterans and their families in the sprawling pop-up community known as Rodger Young Village. This is a great opportunity to learn more about this sprawling urban wilderness and how it’s played into the larger Los Angeles history.
